Bedford Malmquist was born on Sept. 14, 1911 North of Clifton, KS to Charles and Hannah Anderson Malmquist. He passed from this life on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008 at Cloud County Health Center, Concordia, KS at the age of 97. He was a lifelong Concordia area resident and farmer. He married Madeline G. Giroux on Oct. 14, 1941 as part of a double marriage with his brother John and Madeline's sister, Irene at the Catholic Church in Concordia, KS. She preceded him in death on June 19, 1983. He farmed southwest of Concordia. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia. He was a past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus. He served as a board member for the Cloud County Co-Op Elevator. He is survived by his son, Harold Malmquist, Concordia, KS; daughter Carolyn Lanoue, Romeoville, IL; sister in law, Alice Hubert and husband Bert; twin grandchildren, Mary Yarbrough and Marth Pry; grandson, John Lanoue and granddaughter, Michelle Babin; 6 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Madeline; his parents; brothers, John and Gus Malmquist and a sister, Ruth Anderson. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM on Wed., Oct. 22, 2008 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia. Burial will follow the services at St. Concordia Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 AM to 9 PM, Tues., Oct. 21, 2008 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home with a Vigil service at 6:30 PM. The family suggests memorials to Cloud County Health Center - 2nd Floor or Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church Building Fund.
