She was born January 18, 1909 in Aurora , Kansas to George and Anna (LeClair) Mallo. Her incredible memory of people and events was the source for a number of articles in the Blade Empire and genealogists frequently stopped by to get her input on family background and history. Adele attended Concordia High School and graduated with the class of 1927. It was while both were acting in the senior play that Adele met and fell in love with Norman Lewis. They were married on January 8 th , 1934. Norman managed the Baron's House Hotel and they lived in one of the apartments there, raising three sons: Michael, John, and James. In 1953, Norman and Adele built the Baron's Motel on 6 th street just east of US 81 and she managed the motel for nearly 20 years. In 1972, Adele and Norman retired and moved into their home on east 10 th street overlooking the Republican valley. They enjoyed traveling, their favorite being by paddlewheel steam boats – and visiting children and grandchildren. After Norman 's death in November of 1995, Adele, though confined to a wheel chair, continued to live in their home until a stroke in October of 2006 caused her to move to Mount Joseph Nursing Home where she resided comfortably for the remaining years of her life.
