A.G. "Jake" Swiercinsky was born August 8, 1922 to Charles A. and Rose Anne Moravek in Washington, KS. He passed away from this life on December 7, 2007 at Cloud County Health Center at the age of 85. J ake's parents owned and operated the local movie theater where their 3 sons were introduced to work by selling popcorn and graduating to the projection booth. Following graduation from Washington High School in 1940 he worked for the Kansas Highway Dept. until enlisting in the Navy Air Corp in Nov. 1942 to June 1946. Jake and Norma Jean Peters were married Jan. 11, 1948 living in Washington until purchasing the Wilcox Insurance Agency in November 1948 and moving to Concordia, KS. In 1954 he merged his agency with C. Gay Busby and in 1971 another merger formed the Bays-Erickson Swiercinsky Agency. He retired in 1988 as Co-Owner with Arvidale Erickson of this agency. He was active in many organizations in which he held many offices: Lions Club Secretary for 22 years; American Legion, Concordia City Commissioners- June 1968 to April 1972 serving as Mayor from April 1970 to April 1972. He was as active member of the Concordia Lutheran Church. He is survived by w ife: Jean Swiercinsky, of the home; Daughter: Brenda Swiercinsky, San Rafael, CA; Son: David Swiercinsky & wife Vickie, Wellington, FL; Son: Mark Swiercinsky & wife Carrie, Clarkston, MI; Brother: Lyle Swiercinsky & wife Gladys, Las Vegas, NV; Grandchild: Chad Swiercinsky, Denver, CO; Grandchild: Todd Swiercinsky, Shawnee Mission, KS; Grandchild: Justyne Swiercinsky, Clarkston, MI; Step-Grandchild: Ryan Swiercinsky, Red Bank, NJ; Step Grandchild: Jaimee Cotter & hus Nick, Weidman, MI; Step-Grandchild: Sonya Toney, Lake Worth, FL; Step-Grandchild: Jared Toney, Toronto, Canada; Step-Great Grandchild: David Castro, Lake Worth, FL; Step-Great Grandchild: Martin Mannion, Lake Worth, FL; Niece & Nephew: Sylvia & Dennis; He was preceded In death by his Parents, Brother- Charles E.; Grandson: Troy Jacob "TJ"; Nephew- Gary. Memorial services will be at 10:30AM Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at Concordia Lutheran Church with the Rev. David Strommen officiating. Visitation will be from 9AM to 9PM Monday at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 7PM to 9PM at the funeral home. The body was cremated. Private Inurnment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia, Kansas. Memorials may be made to Concordia Lutheran Church or the National Orphan Train Museum in care of the Funeral Home.
