Alden Winston Appleby was born October 1, 1917 in Rural Ames, Kansas to Jesse and Lou Morgan Appleby.  He passed away from this life on Sunday, November 4, 2007 at Cloud County Health Center, Concordia, Kansas at the age of 90. He attended grade school in the Ames Area. He married Verona M. Kasl on August 2, 1942 in Glasco, KS. She preceded him in death on October 23, 2002. He was a WWII Veteran where he served as an Army Sergeant in Company A 1st Staging Area Battalion. He was a member of the VFW Post #588, American Legion Post # 76, First United Methodist Church and former member of the Moose Lodge Post #1428 all of Concordia, KS. He is survived by a Daughter: Jan Novlan, Concordia, KS; Son- Darrell Appleby and Significant other Tina Pinnell, St. Louis, MO; 6 grandchildren: Vickie Donaldson and husband Wendell, Halstead, KS; Jodi Rehbein and husband Bruno, Concordia, KS; Sherri Razer and husband Jeff, Olathe, KS; Christi Jager and husband Brandon, New Bloomfield, MO; Brooke Appleby, St. Louis, MO; Lance Appleby, St. Louis, MO; 6 great grandchildren: Britni Seubert, Concordia, KS; Simone Donaldson, Halstead, KS; Miranda Turpin, Concordia, KS; Shaina Donaldson, Halstead, KS; Abbey Jager, New Bloomfield, MO; Elaine Razer, Olathe, KS; Special Friend: Elaine Diebel, Concordia, KS; Numerous Nieces and Nephews.  Funeral services will be at 10:00AM Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home with the Rev. Sandra K. Moore officiating.  Visitation will be 9 AM to 9 PM Tuesday, November 6, 2007 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home where family will receive friends from 6 PM to 8 PM.  Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Graveside Military Honors by the VFW Post #588 and American Legion Post # 76 of Concordia, Kansas.  Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or National Alzheimers Association in care of the funeral home.
