Obituary

Alice V. McKenna was born on April 25, 1926 in Aurora, KS to Floyd E. & Celine E. (Cote) McCall. She passed from this life on Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010 at Mt. Joseph Senior Village, Concordia, KS at the age of 84. Alice graduated from Concordia High School in 1944. Alice married Ray McKenna on Oct. 3, 1949 in South Dakota. He preceded her in death on Oct. 16, 2001. Alice and her husband, Ray, owned and operated McKenna Tree Service. Alice was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was a Boy Scout Leader and actively involved in PTA and 4-H. She enjoyed knitting and reading. Her favorite times were when the family gathered at their trailer home at Lovewell Lake for large family dinners and boating. She also enjoyed preparing dinners for Christmas and other special occasions for family gatherings. Alice is survived by her sons: Kenny McKenna & wife Janet, Guthrie, OK, Tom McKenna, Salt Lake City, UT & Jay McKenna, Eskridge, KS; daughter: Lynette Childers & husband Bobby, DeSoto, KS; daughter in law, Carol McKenna, Concordia, KS; sister: Mignon Purdy, Collingswood, NJ; 9 grandchildren: Niki McGuire & husband Bruce, Chandler, OK, Lee McKenna, Sacramento, CA, Brandy Porter & husband Billy, Manhattan, KS, Nicholas McKenna, Wichita, KS, Christopher McKenna, Kansas City, MO, Kate Lamb & husband Vance, Murfreesboro, TN, Alicia McKenna, Concordia, KS, Mitchell Childers, DeSoto, KS & Ray McKenna, Eskridge, KS; 6 great grandchildren: Celine & Emi-lee McGuire, Will, Chloe & Callie Porter & Makenzie McKenna-Aqui; nieces: Jeanette Cosentino & Barbara Malvase & nephews: Allen Purdy & Steve Workman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray; parents; sister, Jean Workman; daughter in law, Marilee McKenna & great grandson, Clayton McGuire. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Mon., Nov. 15, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church, Concordia with Rev. Helen Rose Moore officiating. Visitation will be from 9 AM to 5 PM Friday, Nov. 12 & from 1-8 PM with family greeting friends from 7-8 PM, Sun., Nov. 14, 2010 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home. Burial will follow the services at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia. The family suggests memorials to the First United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer's Assoc. in care of the funeral home.
