Allan J. "Hoop" Seifert was born on Dec. 31, 1944 in Concordia, KS to Andrew F., Jr. & Josephine M. (Nault) Seifert. He passed from this life on Sunday, April 24, 2011 at Republic County Hospital, Belleville, KS at the age of 66. Allan graduated from Clyde High School in 1963 and then graduated from the Kansas City School of Watchmaking in 1965. He married Ellen Magaw at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Clyde on June 19, 1965. They lived in Clyde until moving to Wichita, KS, where Allan worked for Helzberg's Jewelers and then operated his own watch repair shop out of his home for the next 14 years. He and Ellen returned to Clyde when he took over the operations of Seifert Jewelry in Clyde until 2007. When Allan returned to Clyde he also began to farm & raise cattle. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the Kansas Jewelers Assoc. Allan enjoyed all types of birds and wildlife, but especially Purple Martins that he built custom bird houses for over the years. He also enjoyed playing cards with his friends and family. During the last several years, Allan always enjoyed driving the tractor and farming, but his most precious joy were all his grandchildren and their activities and spending time with them. He is survived by his wife: Ellen Seifert, Clyde, KS; daughter: Andrea Stovall & husband Dave, Spring Hill, KS; sons: Vincent Seifert & wife Autumn, Clyde, KS & Scott Seifert & wife Dawn, Clyde, KS; parents: Andrew & Josephine Seifert, Clyde, KS; brother: David Seifert & wife Shirl, Sedona, AZ; sisters: Jolene Moore & husband Don, Hays, KS & Lori Adkins & husband Nick, Clifton, KS; grandchildren: Shannon & Jakob Stovall, Spring Hill, KS, Danielle, Taylor, Christian & Gracie Seifert, Clyde, KS & Ashley, Andrew, Abbie & Alex Seifert, Clyde, KS & a brother in law, David Magaw & wife Jane, Miltonvale, KS. He was preceded in death by his grandparents. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Thurs., April 28, 2011 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Clyde. Visitation will be held from 2-5 PM Wed. at Chaput Mortuary and after 5:30 PM at the church. A Rosary service will be held at 6 PM, Wed. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with the family greeting friends following the rosary at the church. Burial will follow the funeral services at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Clyde. The family suggests memorials to the Clyde Beautification Street Light Project in care of the funeral home.
