Althea M. Downer, 92, died Monday, October 3, 2011 at Attica Long Term Care facility, Attica , KS . She was born on Dec. 4, 1918 in Clyde, KS to John A. & Marie P. (Personette) Martin. She worked for the Kansas Employment Services in Concordia until 1969 when she and her husband, Roy, joined the Peace Corps.

Survivors include two sons, John Downer and wife, Shirley of Douglass, KS and Warren Downer and wife, Barbara of Oxford, KS; one daughter, Dorothy Saddler and husband, Terry of Sharon, KS; three grandchildren, Jennifer Kohlmeyer of Oelwein, IA, Courtney Downer of Gladstone, MO and Joel Downer of Douglass, KS; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and her husband, Roy Downer.

Private services will be held Monday, October 10 ^th at Mount Hope Cemetery in Clyde . In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be given to your favorite charity.
