Alvin J. Kieffer, 85 years of age, of Clifton, passed away Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Cloud County Health Center in Concordia. He was born on March 2, 1927 in Clifton to Peter and Anna (Esslinger) Kieffer. Alvin graduated from Clifton High School in 1944. He married Dolores Catherine Ruhkamp on February 15, 1949 in Hanover. Alvin was primarily a farmer but did many different things to support his family all his life. He was a member of the Clyde Knights of Columbus, serving on Council #1999, an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Clifton where he served in many capacities and was the 1

Eucharistic Minister at that church. Alvin was a faithful supporter of Right To Life of Kansas.
Alvin is survived by his wife, Dolores; 9 children, Michael Kieffer and wife Jean of Liberty, MO, James Kieffer and wife Carol of Yakima, WA, Veronica Conkwright and husband Stan of Manhattan, Frank Kieffer of Alameda, CA, LaDonna Tabayoyon and husband Al of Tigard, OR, Catherine Koch and husband Jerry of Clyde, Fr. Joseph Kieffer of Beloit, Stephen Kieffer and wife Paula of Clifton, Rose Klataske and husband Daryl of Galva; 17 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Marjorie Leis of Wichita, Bernadine Vering of Overland Park; 3 brothers, Robert Kieffer and wife Deanna of Bremerton, WA, Fr. Merlin Kieffer of Manhattan, Charles Kieffer and wife Linda of Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Theresa Kieffer; and an infant brother, Howard John Kieffer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, April 27, 2012 in the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Clifton with Fr. Joseph Kieffer and Fr. Merlin Kieffer officiating. Interment will be in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery of Clifton. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM Thursday, April 26, 2012 in the Chaput Mortuary in Clyde. Vigil Services will be held at 7:00 PM Thursday, April 26, 2012 in the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Clifton. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Right To Life of Kansas in care of the funeral home.
