Audrey Deane (Hillan) Mallam, age 89, died Sun., Nov. 29, 2015 at Salina Regional Health Center, Salina, KS. She was born on July 29, 1926 in Concordia, KS to Edward W. & Goldie M. (Parsons) Hillan.
She grew up in Concordia and graduated from Concordia High School in 1944. She married Charles B. Mallam on July 29, 1945 at the home of her parents. Born to this union were Karen Kay, Ronald Dean, Robert Steven and Susan Elaine.
Chuck and Audrey lived briefly in Concordia and were transferred to Clyde in the early 1950's where they raised their family. Chuck worked for Kansas Power & Light and Audrey was a homemaker. Audrey later worked as a cook at Park Villa Nursing Home in Clyde. In 1993 they moved back to Concordia to enjoy their retirement and be closer to their grandchildren. Chuck preceded her on Dec. 8, 2006.
Chuck & Audrey loved square dancing and were members of the Aurora Starlighter Square Dance Club. They thoroughly enjoyed following their grandchildren's activities in all sporting events and were their biggest cheerleaders. Audrey enjoyed the FW Club, Clyde Lions Club, Jolly 17 Circle and the United Methodist Women's group. She also enjoyed working with crafts, always finding something to paint.
Her greatest joy was her family, in particular, the great grandchildren. She loved cooking large meals for both family & friends for the holidays and gatherings. She had 15 grandchildren and 2 step grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 6 step great grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
She is survived by her sons, Ron Mallam and wife Pat, Kearney, NE & Bob Mallam and wife Glenda, Yukon, OK and daughter, Susan Jackson and husband Jim, Concordia.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Chuck; daughter, Karen Appleby; sister, Phyllis Tate; four brothers, Kenneth, Marion "Pat", Edward Lee & Elbert & numerous nieces & nephews.
Funeral services will be 11 am, Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia with Pastor Al Paredes officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia. Visitation will be from 10 am to 9 pm with the family greeting friends from 6-8 pm at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to Rebecca A.
