Obituary

Avalee V. Dick was born on June 24, 1922 in Wayne, KS to Ernest J. & Mae L. (Salmon) Englund. She passed from this life on Wed., May 20, 2009 at Republic County Hospital, Belleville, KS at the age of 86. Avalee attended Wayne grade & high schools and graduated from Agenda Rural high school. She married James G. Cherney on Oct. 15, 1940 in Fairbury, NE. She later married Forrest Junior Dick on Oct. 3, 1973 in Cheyenne, WY. He preceded her in death on April 8, 2008. Avalee worked for Boeing & Cessna in Wichita, KS as a riveter. She also worked as a waitress and later a homemaker. Avalee was a member of the Moose Lodge #1428 Ladies Auxiliary, VFW Post #588 Ladies Auxiliary & American Legion Post #76 Ladies Auxiliary. Avalee enjoyed crocheting and fishing. She is survived by her daughter, Trish Bishop & husband Tim, Concordia, KS; son, Terry Cherney & wife Paula, Agenda, KS; sister, Betty Hill, Tukwila, WA; 7 grandchildren & 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband - Forrest "Junior" Dick; parents; sisters, Maxine Sherwood & Peggy Howell. Memorial services will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, May 30, 2009 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia, KS. Burial will be at a later date in the Union Cemetery, Wayne, KS. Friends may sign the register book from 8 AM to 5 PM, Friday, May 29, 2009 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials to the Agenda United Methodist Church or the Agenda City Park.
