Averill W. Copple was born on October 27, 1929 in Delphos, KS to Warren (Bill) & Evelyn M. (Wiles) Copple. He passed from this life on Tues., March 16, 2010 at Mt. Joseph Senior Community, Concordia, KS at the age of 80. Averill attended country schools. He married Luella Loeffler on June 5, 1948 in Clyde, KS. She preceded him in death on Sept. 15, 2008. Averill worked for Ross Sand Pit, McFall Tire & over 30 years as a truck driver for Boogaarts. During that time he also ran his own mechanic/auto repair/radiator shop & worked together with his son in law, Bill. Averill was involved in the Dust Devils racing and was a Charter member of Moose Lodge #1428. He also was a associate member of American Legion Post #76. He is survived by his daughters: Mae Marie Sanders & husband Roy, Concordia, KS & Shirley Gropp & husband Bill, Concordia, KS; son: Richard Copple & wife Angela, Hollis, KS; sister: Wanda Lee Reed & husband Lee, Harlingen, TX; 5 grandchildren & 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Luella; parents & great grandson, Kohl Gropp. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM, Friday, March 19, 2010 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home with Rev. John States officiating. Burial will follow the services at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 AM to 9 PM with the family greeting friends from 7-8 PM, Thurs., March 18, 2010 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials to the SIDS Network or Concordia Senior Citizens Center in care of the funeral home.
