Barbara A. Billingsly Pearson Montoya, age 94, of Concordia, KS, passed away at her home, surrounded by her husband, family and caregivers on Thursday, November 18, 2021.  She was born on March 20, 1927 in Grand Forks, ND to Clifford & Frances (Wood) Billingsly.

Barbara graduated from Central High School, Grand Forks, ND and the University of North Dakota.  She married Marion C. Pearson, M.D. on April 24, 1954 and he preceded her on August 21, 1975.  To this union were born 3 children, James, Ann & Thomas.

She later married Devine S. Montoya on July 15, 1978.

She was a member of the former Episcopal Church of the Epiphany, Concordia and the Order of the Eastern Star.  She enjoyed reading, scrapbooking, sewing, spending time with family and friends and loved traveling with her husband.  Barbara was an avid tennis player and golfer.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Devine, Concordia; sons, Dr. James Pearson, Charlotte, NC & Dr. Thomas Pearson, Springfield, MO; a daughter, Ann Pearson, Salina; grandchildren, James M. Pearson (Jennifer) & their children, Lily & James; David C. Pearson; Ayşe A. Heisdorf (John) & their child, Ayla; Safiye K. Williams (Mark) & their children, Koa & Kia; Logan C. Pearson;  2 stepchildren and their spouses; 5 step grandchildren & 13 step great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; husband, Marion C. Pearson, M.D.; grandson, William T. Pearson & sister, Elizabeth; step-daughter, Suzie Pearson.

It was Barbara's wishes to be cremated and a memorial service will be 10:00 am, Friday, Nov. 26, 2021 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home with Rev. David Strommen officiating.  Burial of the cremains will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia.  Friends may sign the register book on Wed., November 24, 2021 from 9 am to 5 pm all at the funeral home.  The family suggests memorials to Meadowlark Hospice or the Alzheimer's Assoc. in care of the funeral home.  For online condolences, please visit www.chaputbuoy.com.
