Obituary
Bernadine E Cummings, 88, died Thurs., May 9, 2013 at Mercy Regional Health Center, Manhattan, KS. Born Aug. 23, 1924 to Peter J. & Adzannia P. (Poulin) Blochlinger.
She worked as the owner &
operator of Cornerstone Bookstore & Radio Shack in Concordia.
She was a life member of Beta Sigma Phi, past
member of both Concordia & Manhattan Chambers of Commerce, Past President
& member of the Pilot Club, former Treasurer of the POW Camp Concordia
Preservation Society, and faithful member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Concordia
and Seven Dolors, Manhattan.
She is survived by 2 daughters;
Cindy O'Connell, Manhattan & Connie Waite (husband Mike), Mankato; sister,
Bernadette Oeser, Wichita; 8 grandchildren, Colleen O'Connell, Danielle O'Connell,
Robyn O'Connell-Tatum (husband Tyrone), Jennifer Grennan (husband Matt), Jared
Waite (wife Jennifer), Carrie Reece (husband Jason), and Dustin Waite; 15 great
grandchildren, Trey, Jordan, Andrew, Logan, Donovan, Wade, Darius, Tyler, Isaac,
Zachary, Hannah, Breckyn, Rylan, Grant, and Annastyn.
She was preceded in death by
her parents; grandson, Aaron O'Connell; sister, Adzie Pinney & brothers,
Francis Joseph, Joseph A. & Laurence A. Blochlinger.
The Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m., Tues., May 14, 2013 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Rev. Msgr. Barry Brinkman & Rev. Joseph Popelka officiating. Burial will follow at St. Concordia Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. -5 p.m. Mon. at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home and an hour prior to the services at the church. A Vigil with Rosary will be held at 7 p.m., Mon., May 13 at Seven Dolors Catholic Church, Manhattan. The body will not be present at the Vigil. The family suggests memorials to Seven Dolors Catholic Church Building Fund or the POW Camp Concordia Preservation Society in care of the funeral home.
