Berniece M. Burt was born to Raymond and Mabel Moore Lewis on March 5, 1927 in Rural Concordia, KS. She died Tuesday, February 20, 2007 at Cloud County Health Center at the age of 79. She attended Nelson Center country school and graduated from Concordia High School. She married Raymond Burt on Oct. 20, 1946 at the Baptist Parsonage in Concordia, KS. He survives the home. She was a member of The First Baptist Church, 4-H, TOPS, EHU Circle all in Concordia. She was a very active 4-H leader. She and her husband Raymond owned and operated Burt's Kawasaki Motorcycle Shop in Concordia for 30 years. Survivors in addition to her husband include: Daughter- Donna Susan Hodgins & hus John of Concordia, KS; 4 sons- Daryl Burt & wife Kathy of Muskatine, IA; Dennis Burt & wife Rosemary of Belleville, KS; Kevin Burt of Concordia, KS; and Marlin Burt & wife Genevieve of Lenexa, KS. 1 sister- Gloria Breault of Kearney, NE; and 4 brothers: Donald Lewis & wife Darlene of Concordia, KS; Glenn Lewis & wife Jane of Wichita, KS; James Lewis & wife Leslie of Manhattan, KS; and Robert Lewis & wife Carol of Tulsa, OK. 10 Grandchildren: Jenny Rendfrey & hus Scott of Fort Collins, CO; Tonie Busby & hus Robert of Sun City, AZ; Chad Burt & wife Camille of Olathe, KS; Brent Burt & wife Melissa of Shawnee, KS; Heath Burt of Topeka, KS; Dusty Hodgins of Manhattan, KS; Heather Howard & hus Josh of Gold River, CA; Bailey & Madison Burt of Kansas City, MO; and Tabitha Burt of Lenexa, KS; and 6 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters- Norma Lee Istas, and Shirley Vincent and a brother Raymond "Junior" Lewis.
Funeral services are 10:00AM Friday at First Baptist Church of Concordia with Rev. David Fabarez officiating. Visitation is 9 AM to 9 PM Thursday at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 7 PM to 8 PM. Memorials may be made to Cloud County 4-H Youth Fund.
