Bersita “Bert” Alice Mendenhall, 75, Concordia, Kansas passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2026. She was born on August 21, 1950, in Concordia, Kansas to William and Betty (Slater) Frybarger.
She attended Concordia High School and then Cloud County Community College. She spent time working as a waitress and then a Certified Med Aid before becoming the Deli Manager at Rod’s Food Store.
Bert married Raymond Mendenhall on December 10, 1999. They were happily married for 28 years.
She was a long time member of the American Legion Post 76 Auxiliary and a former chapter President. She liked helping with and playing Bingo. She enjoyed hunting and fishing. She especially liked spending time with her grandchildren.
Bert is preceded in death by her parents, William and Betty Frybarger, and two sisters Betty Myers and Claudia Frybarger.
She is survived by her husband Raymond Mendenhall of Concordia, KS; daughters Shawna Mendenhall of Concordia, KS, Juanita Peters (Craig) of Belleville, KS, and Elizabeth Parde of Salina, KS; 14 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; brothers William Frybarger, Concordia, KS, Robert Frybarger, Belleville, KS, Donald Frybarger, Belleville, KS; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.
A funeral service will take place at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home on Monday, January 26, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Earl Hale officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia, KS. Visitation will be held at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home on Sunday, January 25, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the O’Connor Animal Shelter or the American Legion Auxiliary Post 76 in care of Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, P.O.
