Bertha "Johnnie" Cassel was born on December 18, 1917 in Concordia, Kansas to David and Rachel Hill Strait.  She died on Friday, March 30, 2007 at Cloud County Health Center at the age of 89. S he attended Concordia area schools. She married Everett "Skinny" Cassel on Sept. 18, 1937 in Concordia, KS. He preceded her in death on July 3, 1999. She was a homemaker and lifelong Concordia area resident.  She is survived by her daughters; Patty June & Hus. Boyd of Concordia, KS, Barbara Chapman & Hus. Larry of Belleville, KS, Carol Tallent & Hus. Ron of Belleville, KS and Pam McDonald & Hus. Linn of Logan, KS; son; Craig Cassel & wife Cynthia of Friend, NE; daughter in law; Pauline Cassel of Wichita, KS; brothers; Mel Strait of Salina, KS and William Strait of Englewood, CO; sisters; Joan Demanette and Pauline Vignery, both of Concordia, KS; 20 grandchildren; 33 Great Grandchildren and 7 Great Great Grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her her husband, a son; Everett "Booster" Cassel; 2 Grandchildren; 1 Great Grandchild; 6 Brothers and 1 Sister.  Services will be held on Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at 10:00 AM at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home in Concordia with Pastor Bob Burns officiating.  Visitation will be held from 9 AM to 9 PM Monday at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home with the family greeting friends from 7-8 PM Monday.  Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia.  The family has requested memorials to Meadowlark Hospice or Cloud County Health Center.
