Betty M. Schenk, age 90, returned to her heavenly father on Wed., March 23, 2016. She was a resident at Sunset Nursing Home, Concordia. Betty was born on May 14, 1925 in Agenda, KS to Joseph E. & Golda L. (Campbell) Doupnik.

Betty grew up in Wayne, KS & graduated from Concordia High School in 1944. She married Clarence F. Schenk on July 26, 1949 in Gainesville, TX. This union lasted almost 55 years. Clarence & Betty owned & operated Schenk Tree Surgery & Nursey for over 50 years. Betty grew as an active member of the First United Methodist Church where she had taught Sunday School, helped with church dinners and active in her church cluster. As a young mother, Betty was a Camp Fire leader and helped with Cub Scouts. Betty was a homemaker and enjoyed canning, sewing, crafting for her family and loved her family & friends. She had a love for animals & every stray soon became a member of the family.

She is survived by her son, Steve Schenk; daughters, Susan Breault (Dr. Mark) & Loretta Hyman (Dan), all of Concordia; grandchildren: Dustin Breault (Dr. Dorothy), Bradyn Breault (Sheryl), Kelsey Larson (Jace), Destiny Bowers (Brice), Trask Breault (Ikay), Hailey Schenk; step grandchildren; Matt, Melissa & Michaela Hyman & 11 great grandchildren.

She will be greeted in heaven by her husband, Clarence; son, Larry; her parents; sister & brother in law, Yvonne & J.W. Robinson; great grandson & numerous family & friends.

A Life Celebration will be at 10:00 am, Tues., March 29, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 am to 9 pm Mon, March 28, 2016 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials to the O'Connor Animal Shelter in care of the funeral home.
