Bill Norman Lowell, age 83, died Sat., April 6, 2013 at his home in Concordia, KS. Bill was born on the family farm near Talmo, KS on Nov. 7, 1929 to Loyd N. & Thora A. (Grinstaff) Lowell. He graduated from Concordia High School in 1947. He entered the U.S. Air Force on Jan. 1, 1951 and served in Fairford, England for 3 years. Upon receiving his discharge, Bill returned to farm on the family farm until his retirement on April 1, 1996. He married Loretta Hood on Aug. 2, 1957 in Fairbury, NE. Bill was a member of the Elks, Moose Lodge, Concordia Country Club & later the American Legion Golf Course all of Concordia. Bill is survived by his wife, Loretta; daughter, Cindy Koch & husband Dan; sons, R.J. Lowell & wife Marilyn and Kirk & wife Janet all of Concordia; brother, Darrel "D.D." Lowell & wife Becky, Savannah, GA; sisters, Katherine Langton, Manhattan, KS & Janet Dorman & husband Ronnie, Concordia; 7 grandchildren & 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Joanna Proffitt of Sterling, KS. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am, Wed., April 10, 2013 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia with Rev. Msgr. Barry Brinkman officiating. Cremation will follow the funeral services. Visitation will be held from 9 am 9 pm with the family greeting friends from 7-9 pm Tues. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to Meadowlark Hospice in care of the funeral home.
