Rightmeier
March 8, 1919 – September 16, 2015
Bonnie R. (Kadavy) Rightmeier, daughter of Frank & Emma (Rundus) Kadavy, was born on March 8, 1919 in Munden, KS. She grew up in a close knit family with 1 brother, John & 3 sisters, Karla, Helen & Sylvia. Bonnie passed away at the age of 96 on Wed., Sept. 16, 2015 at Republic County Hospital, Belleville, KS.
She graduated from Munden High School in 1937. She graduated from Ottawa University where she enjoyed singing in the choir and earned her Bachelors of Arts degree in 1941. Her first teaching position was in Montrose Rural High School where she met Leon Rightmeier. After Montrose, Bonnie taught in Arkansas City while Leon served in the Coast Guard. After 2 years in Arkansas City, she returned to the Belleville area to teach at Belleville High School. Bonnie married her sweetheart Leon on May 26, 1946. To this marriage, two children were born, Jeanette in 1947 and Eldon in 1951.
Bonnie continued to teach at Belleville High School for 32 years until she retired in 1981. She spent the years following retirement in Concordia. She loved to garden and was actively involved in The Baptist Church activities and the activities of her grandchildren, Amy, Beth, Cheri, Nathan & Melissa. Bonnie & Leon were married for 65 years until his death on Feb. 11, 2012.
In all the time teaching in various schools, Bonnie most enjoyed teaching Sunday School.
Bonnie is survived by her daughter in law, Lorna Rightmeier, Meridan; 5 grandchilren; Amy Belden (Jeff), Mulvane, Beth Hysom-Strandberg (Bob), Las Vegas, NV, Cheri Summers (Michael), Kearney, MO, Nathan Rightmeier (Tuuliki), Lawrence & Melissa Miller (Clint), Lee's Summit, MO; 10 great grandchildren, Taylor & Bryant Belden, Ariel & Jacob Strandberg, Ayna Summers, Jasper & Jorey Rightmeier & Zoey, Teagan & Rhett Miller; sister, Sylvia Shoemaker (Paul), Munden; sister in law, Donafea Kadavy, Belleville & several nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon; daughter, Jeanette Rightmeier-Hysom; son, Eldon; her parents; sisters, Karla Kadavy & Helen Joy & a brother, John Kadavy.
The family requests that those who attend the funeral wear a 'touch of pink' in remembrance of Bonnie.
Services will be 11:00 am, Sat., Sept. 19, 2015 at The Baptist Church with Rev. David Fabarez officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 pm at the Pleasant View Cemetery, Montrose. Visitation will be from 9 am to 9 pm with family greeting friends from 5-7 pm, Friday at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia. The family suggests memorials to Republic County High School or NCK Teens for Christ in care of the funeral home.
