Obituary

Calvin "Cal" C. Wiltse was born on Sept. 4, 1927 on a farm near Lamar in Ottawa County, Kansas to George William and Emma Kiziah Shroyer Wiltse.  He passed from this life on Thursday, July 12, 2007 at Cloud County Health Center in Concordia, Kansas after a long illness at the age of 79. His early childhood and teenage years were spent in Ottawa County, Chanute and Concordia, Kansas. He worked for a year at the Concordia Blade-Empire before he enlisted in the Navy in 1944 while he was still in high school. He served off the coast of Japan in the US Navy until July 11, 1946. He also received his GED while serving in the Navy. After returning from the Navy he worked as a printer at the Concordia Blade-Empire for 43 years when he retired in 1989. He married Adetha "De" L. Lawson on Jan. 28, 1951 in Concordia, Kansas. To this union was born two daughters, Lea Ann and Jan. He loved gardening, hunting, fishing, watching sports, playing cards and remodeling his home. He was a member of the First Christian Church, was a lifetime member of VFW Post #588 and American Legion Post #76, he also was a member of Moose Lodge #1428. He spent the last 13 months of his life in Sunset Nursing Home. Cal loved his family and loved being a father, grandfather and great grandfather.  He is survived by his wife Adetha "De" Wiltse of the home; daughters, Lea Ann Weilbacher and Hus. Mike, Leavenworth, KS and Jan Bergstrom, Concordia, KS; brothers, George Wiltse, Chanute, KS and Warner Wiltse, Toledo, OH; sisters, Dorothy Lawyer, Concordia, KS and Geraldine Bennett, Longmont, CO; grandchildren, Amanda, Michael II and Matthew Weilbacher, Dea, Dannie and Erik Bergstrom and great grandchildren, Kyler and Kolton Haskett.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Joy, John and Leonard Wiltse; sisters, Vilas Desselle and Ida Mae Wheeler.  Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, July 16, 2007 at the First Christian Church, Concordia, KS.  Visitation will be from 2 PM to 9 PM and the family will greet friends from 6-8 PM Sunday, July 15, 2007 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home.  Burial will follow the service at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia with Military Honors by American Legion Post #76 and VFW Post #588.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Sunset Home or First Christian Church.
