Carolyn J. Cordwell, age 88, passed away on Thurs., Oct. 11, 2018 at her home in Jamestown, KS.  She was born on Dec. 9, 1929 in Jamestown, KS to R. Harold & M. Nelle (Moffett) Champlin.

She graduated from Jamestown High School in 1947.  She married W. Elmer Cordwell on June 4, 1950 in Jamestown and he preceded her in death on Aug. 3, 1996.  She worked at the Vering Drug Store while in high school and later the library and telephone office. Later, she and Elmer operated the grocery store in Jamestown for several years.  Carolyn was an active member of the Jamestown United Methodist Church, former Moose Lodge #1428 member and the American Legion & VFW auxiliaries.

She is survived by her brother, George Champlin (Nancy), Concordia; sister, Marcia Champlin, Concordia; several nieces, nephews, great nieces & great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer; her parents and a brother, Gary Champlin.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Wed., Oct. 17, 2018 at the Jamestown United Methodist Church, Jamestown with Pastor Randy Whitley officiating.  Burial will follow at the Jamestown Cemetery.  Visitation will be Tues., Oct. 16, 2018 from 1-8 pm with the family greeting friends from 6-7 pm at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia.  The family suggests memorials to the Jamestown United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.  For online condolences, please visit www.chaputbuoy.com.
