Obituary

Catherine "Katie" Ann O'Connor, age 87, of Concordia , KS , went home to meet her heavenly Father on Tuesday, March 19, 2013. Katie was born in Selden , Kansas , on November 9, 1925, to Aloysius and Rose (Moeder) Schneweis.  She married Earl Eugene O'Connor on January 29, 1945, in Salina , Kansas .  Together they raised their family of five children in Concordia.  They provided a home filled with love, values, and a strong work ethic.  Earl preceded her in death on June 17, 1993.  Katie was a devout Roman Catholic and active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish.  She spent many hours helping with the Concordia Food Bank, supported numerous charities, and performed countless acts of mercy.  She was known for her delightful sense of humor, her deep faith in God, and compassion for others.   A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, her gentle spirit will be greatly missed by so many.

Katie is survived by her five children and their families:  daughter Colleen O'Connor Harris and husband Bill of Bartlett, TN: son Patrick O'Connor of Salina, KS; son Michael O'Connor and wife Janet of Salina, KS; son Brian O'Connor and wife Terri of Concordia, KS; daughter Kathleen O'Connor Suppes and husband Patrick of Otis, KS; grandchildren Tracee Alley, Kevin O'Connor, and Nicole O'Connor; and extended family members Jenn Alley, Alyssa O'Connor, Jana Croom, Cristina Harris, Amy Suppes, Julie Hoverson, Christy Baalmann, James Suppes, and Matthew Suppes.  She is also survived by her sister Eunice Bodine and three brothers:  Rudy, Herman, and Frank Schneweis, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She also was preceded by her parents; 4 sisters & 6 brothers.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am, Friday, March 22, 2013 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia with Rev. Barry Brinkman officiating. Burial will follow at St. Concordia Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 am to 9 pm, with an Altar Society Rosary at 5 pm and a Vigil service at 6:30 pm all on Thurs., March 21, 2013 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials or donations to the Concordia Food Bank.
