Cecelia Jewell, daughter of Henry and Mary (ODonnell) McGrath, was born in Washington, KS. She graduated from Greenleaf high school in 1940. She graduated from nursing school at St. Joseph Hospital, Concordia, KS as a registered nurse. She worked at St. Joseph Hospital, the Dr./Physicians clinics, Nazareth Motherhouse, and staffed the many Red Cross blood mobiles in Concordia. She married Charles "Charlie" Jewell on January 7, 1946 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Greenleaf. He preceded her in death on Dec. 8, 2003. She was a member of OLPH Catholic Church, Concordia, the Altar Scoiety, and the ladies Auxiliary of the VFW & American Legion, Concordia. Surviors include: her daughters Jane (Mike) Linden, Concordia and Vicky Jewell, Lincoln, KS; son Clinton (Susan) Jewell, Leadville, CO; sisters, Mary Lou Laue, Topeka and Sister Irene McGrath, Leavenworth; grandchildren kevin & Becky Jewell. Funeral services 11:00 AM Wednesday, Mar. 18, 2009 OurLady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia. Burial in St. Concordia Cemetery.
