Charles Keith Chartier, age 83, passed away peacefully on, Saturday, December 15, 2018 at the Harry Hynes Hospice Unit in the Via Christi Hospital in Wichita, Kansas. Charles was born March 29, 1935 on a family homestead near Concordia, Kansas to Elmer and Blanche (Cooper) Chartier.
Charles was a 1953 graduate of Concordia High School.
He married Mary Sorell on June 19, 1954 in St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Joseph, Kansas.
Charles retired from KP&L as a serviceman.
He loved fishing, hunting, bird watching, and most of all spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Charles is survived by his wife, Mary, Concordia, KS.; sister, Marcia Brockway, Salina, KS.; 3 daughters, Peg Sholtz (Rich) Chapman, KS.; Linda LeClair, Concordia, KS.; Pam Perry (Mark), Chapman, KS.; 2 sons, Steve Chartier (Linda) and Jim Chartier (Ambrea) both of Concordia, KS.; 8 grandchildren, Jeremy Sholtz, Kelly Frazier, Stacie Champlin, Erin Perry, Lauren Perry, Keeton Snavely, Ambriana Snavely, Millie Chartier, 2 step-grandchildren, Erin Burchfiel (Jeff), and Zach McGuire, and 11 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Blanche.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life service will be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 20, 2018. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 all at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia, Kansas.
