Charles L. Grand Pre, 83 years of age, of Concordia, passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at Salina Regional Health Center in Salina . He was born on June 3, 1929 to Alcid L. and Iva M. (Leckberg) Grand Pre . Charles served in the US Army during the Korean War from 1950 – 1953. He married Jean Cooper on October 2, 1954 in Concordia. Charles loved his country, horses, watching Kansas State , the Chiefs and the Royals, and especially spending time with his family and grandkids.

Charles is survived by his wife of almost 58 years, Jean; 4 children, Diana Grand Pre of Salina, Kelly Kieffer and husband Paul of Clyde, Lee Grand Pre and fiancée Patricia Nelson of Salina, Leslie Winkel and husband David of Glen Elder; 5 grandchildren, Kale Kieffer and wife Janessa, Kole Kieffer and wife Kasie, Keely Kieffer and fiancé Brandon Feldkamp, Haley Winkel, Heath Winkel; 5 great grandchildren; sister, Doral Hudsonpillar of Smith Center; brother, Armond Grand Pre of Concord, California; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Stephanie Kieffer; 2 sisters; and 1 brother.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, September 8, 2012 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Concordia with Rev. Barry Brinkman officiating. Interment will be in the St. Concordia Catholic Cemetery in Concordia with military rites by Ft. Riley personnel. Visitation will be held from noon to 9 PM Friday, September 7, 2012 with a vigil service at 6:30 PM at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home in Concordia. Memorials are suggested to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in care of the funeral home.
