Charles W. Hammon, age 80, died Thurs., Aug 15, 2013 in Topeka, KS. He was born on Oct. 14, 1932 in Ft. Scott, KS to Frederick & Mable (Hudson) Hammon.
He graduated from Fulton High School in 1950 and served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Charles worked for AT&T Long Lines for 32 years in cable line construction and maintenance until his retirement in 1983 as a Communication Technician. He was a member of the VFW Post #588, American Legion Post #76, Telephone Pioneers of America & attended the Wesleyan Church. Charles enjoyed spending time with his family & liked to fish & travel.
He is survived by his son, Charles Hammon & wife Air, Wichita; daughters; Linda Kay Hammon & Charlotte Justyna & hus. Paul, Concordia; sister, Merna Seyler & hus. Ed, Ottawa; brother, Robert Hammon & wife Vicki, Wellsville; 4 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren & many nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Cleta & Juanita & brothers, Merle & Fred.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am, Tues., Aug. 20, 2013 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Burns officiating. Visitation will be from 10 am to 9 pm with family greeting friends from 6-7 pm, Mon. at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia with Military Honors by American Legion Post #76 & VFW Post #588. The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Assoc. in care of the funeral home.
