Charles "Bud" Jensen was born on Nov. 9, 1927 in Concordia, KS to Hans & Minda (Olsen) Jensen. He passed from this life on Wed., Nov. 4, 2009 at Cloud County Health Center, Concordia, KS at the age of 81. Bud attended Fairview schools and graduated from Concordia High School in 1945. He then joined the US Marine Corp and was credited for eight years of service. He served in Hawaii, the Philippines and Camp Pendleton, CA. Bud was honored to be a guard for the Ambassador to the Philippines and Rear Admiral Good. Bud was later an instructor in the 7th Engineers and trained troops for combat in Korea. Bud married Patricia Barajas on Dec. 21, 1951 in Las Vegas, NV. He was a self-employed building contractor. Bud will be remembered for his gardening, woodworking, storytelling and most of all his laugh & smile. He is survived by his wife: Patricia Jensen, Concordia, KS; daughters: Patricia Heltne (Paul), Scandia, KS, Suzanne Kirchhoff (Mike), Gaylord, KS, Leanna White (Dave), Scandia, KS, Helen Schefdore (Jim), Ashland, NE, Elisa Gerard (Jeff), Concordia, KS & Mia Kaufman (Kendall), Wichita, KS; Son: Hans Jensen (Lana), Scandia, KS; sisters: Ruth Chilcott, Kelso, WA & Helen Larkins, Western, NE; 14 grandchildren & 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers & 2 sisters. The family will have private funeral services. There will be a public graveside service at 11 AM, Monday, Nov. 9, 2009 at the Valley Cemetery, Norway, KS with Rev. Frank Pekarek officiating and Military Honors conducted by the U.S. Marine Corp. Visitation will be held from 1-9 PM, Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials to the Charles Jensen Memorial Fund to be designated later in care of the funeral home.
