Obituary

Charles "Chuck" W. Hittle, age 76, Concordia, died Wed., Sept. 17, 2014 at Salina Regional Health Center, Salina. He was born on July 30, 1938 in Hillsboro, OR to Harry L. & Beulah M. (Potts) Hittle.

Chuck attended schools in Goff, KS and high school in Wetmore, KS. After high school he worked for Pepsi Cola, Topeka and then Sunbeam Bread Co. He moved to Concordia in 1968 and purchased a bulk tank truck from Wayne Jones and leased milk routes from Mid-America for 32 years, operating Chuck Hittle Trucking. Chuck then worked for Frankie Thomas' tree logging service until 2012. He married Wilma J. "Jeannie" Cubbage on 2-15-1958 and to this union 3 children, Karla, Lori & Daniel were born. He later married Sandra (Metro) Starr on 5-12-1973 in Salina, & to this union, a son, Derrick was born. He loved fishing, camping, working on his trucks & his beloved dog Buffy.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra, Concordia; daughters, Karla McMillan (Norman), Jamestown & Lori Hughes, Osborne; sons, Daniel Hittle (Kelley), Casper, WY & Derrick Hittle (Amy), Concordia; step son, Shawn Starr (Judith), Concordia; step daughter, Angela Bloomer, Concordia; sisters in law, Mae Hittle, Holton & Marcey Hittle, Sabetha; 15 grandchildren & 12 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents ; brothers, Gary & Creston Hittle & great granddaughter, Millie Fahey Moe.

Funeral services will be at 10 am, Mon., Sept. 22, 2014 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia with Rev. Brian Lager officiating. Burial will follow at St. Concordia Cemetery, Concordia. Visitation will be from 12-8 pm with family greeting friends from 7-8 pm, Sun. at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia. The family suggests memorials to O'Connor Animal Shelter or the Sisters of St. Joseph in care of the funeral home.
