Cheryl Lynn Chaput, 76, Spearfish, went to be with the Lord on April 7, 2026.
Cheryl was born on April 25, 1949, to Al and Helen Lipp of Lead, South Dakota. Raised in the beautiful Black Hills, she was joined by a brother, John, and a sister, Lori.
After living in California for a short time, Cheryl returned to Lead where she married Randy Addington. The couple welcomed and raised a beautiful daughter, Wendy Kay Addington. Although this union would end, Wendy remained their pride and joy.
Cheryl married Mike Chaput on October 11, 1987. They spent 30 years together making their life in Lead, Spearfish Canyon, Deadwood, and Salina, Kansas. Following Mike’s passing, Cheryl returned to Spearfish to be near her family.
Cheryl’s careers as an EMT, a florist, and several positions in the hospitality/tourism industry made lasting impacts on more people than we could ever imagine. As quoted, “I just wanted to tell you thanks for being the kind of person you are as shown in your concern, kindness, helpfulness and support to a family today.”
Cheryl’s love for bingo, cross stitching, nickel slot machines, coffee, and ‘what & where’ are the next meals brought smiles to all of us (you really needed to see her snacks while traveling). Traveling with Wendy, family time at holidays, and her pups brought smiles to her.
Cheryl is preceded in death by her husband Mike Chaput, her parents Al & Helen Lipp, her brother John Lipp, her sister Lori Sack, and her pups, Hans, Cyrus, and Rascal. She is survived by her daughter Wendy Addington, her aunt Avis and Uncle Warren Felter, her cousin Peri Knabel and family, nieces Jennifer McBurnett and family, Krissi Hannahs and family, and her nephew, Johnnie Sack and family.
The family would like to extend all of our gratitude to the staff of Burr’s Tender Loving Care Assisted Living and Avantara St. Cloud for the love and care that Cheryl received.
Funeral Services will be held at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish on Monday, April 13, 2026, at 10:00 AM with family present at 9:00 AM for fellowship. Burial will take place at a later date in Clyde, Kansas.
Arrangements are under the care of Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel & Isburg Crematory of Spearfish. Online condolences may be written at https://www.fidler-isburgfuneralchapels.com/
