Clarence Dale Demars was born on July 31, 1924 in Aurora, KS to Joseph & Ella (Brunell) Demars. He passed from this life on Sunday, August 2, 2009 at Mt. Joseph Senior Community, Concordia at the age of 85. Dale attended & graduated from Aurora High School in 1942. He served in the US Navy for 2 years. Dale married Madeline Houghton on May 20, 1947 at the Catholic Church in Concordia, KS. Dale worked for the Ed Burge Candy & Tobacco Co. and later the Lamone Candy & Tobacco Co. as a salesman for 23 years. He drove a tank wagon for the Co-Op Service, delivering farm fuels until this retirement in 1986. He later worked for Payne Oil after his retirement. Dale & Madeline have been Aurora residents most of their lives. Dale was a member of VFW Post #588, American Legion Post #76 & Moose Lodge #1428 of Concordia. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church & the Knights of Columbus of Aurora. Dale served on the Aurora City Council & Parish council for St. Peter's Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife: Madeline Demars, Concordia, KS; daughters: Pamela Huber & husband Bob, Concordia, KS, Jane Demanette & husband Roger, Concordia, KS & Linda Begnoche & husband Gary, Aurora, KS; son: Richard Demars & wife Mary, Keller, TX; sister: Mary Rose Wiltzius, Clifton, KS; brother in law: Norman Sicard, Concordia, KS; 9 grandchildren & 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Curtis, Harold & Merle Demars; sisters, Gloriann Demars & Nada Sicard & a grandson, Kelly Huber. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM, Wed, Aug. 5, 2009 at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Aurora with Rev. Larry Letourneau officiating. Visitation will be held from 9 AM to 9 PM with a vigil service & Knight of Columbus Rosary at 7 PM, Tues., Aug. 4, 2009 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia. Burial with Military Honors by American Legion Post #76 & VFW Post #588 will follow the services at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, Aurora. The family suggests memorials to St. Peter's Catholic Church or Meadowlark Hospice in care of the funeral home.
