Coral Alice
(Amspacker) Bray

Coral Alice (Amspacker) Bray, daughter of Lemmett L. and Estella Davis Amspacker, was born May 19, 1912, on a farm 7 miles north of Glasco, Kansas. She died May 14, 2010, at the age of 97 years, 11 months, and 25 days at the Mount Joseph Senior Village, Concordia, Kansas. She spent her entire life in the Glasco/Concordia area except for 2 years in her early years at Boulder, Colorado, and several years after marriage in Topeka. She graduated from Welcome, a rural school north of Glasco, and from Glasco High School. She worked as a waitress at cafes in Concordia until she married Glen Billie Bray on May 9, 1938. After living in Topeka for several years, in 1942 they returned to a farm south of Concordia and lived and farmed their until retirement. In 1978 they moved to Concordia. She could now devote long loving hours to her favorite pastime of doing needle work and piecing quilts together. She loved playing pitch and was an excellent player. She loved spending time with family and baking. Her bread, cinnamon rolls and pies were relished by all. She was baptized and confirmed in St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Glasco. To their union three children were born: Olin Edward and wife Diane, Lakewood, CO; David Kay and wife Paulette, Craig, CO; and Judea Gay Jones, Idaho Falls, ID. She is survived by her children, 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandsons: Travis and wife Andrea Bray and sons Devin and Tayven; Amber and husband Mike Toole and sons Torin, Liam and Quinlan; Erik and wife Lacy Bray and son Kolbe; Brandi Jones and Cass Jones. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, Oscar, Lowell and Lloyd Amspacker; five sisters, Neva Flewelling, Anna Grittman, Vera Henning Horn, Gwen Henning, and Ella Richard; and son-in-law Robert D. Jones. She was a kind and loving wife and mother. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. She will be sadly missed by all.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Glasco, KS with Dolores Bliese officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 AM to 9 PM with the family greeting friends from 7-9 PM, Monday, May 17, 2010 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home. Burial will follow the services at the Glasco Cemetery, Glasco, KS. The family suggests memorials to the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Glasco or the American Lung Assoc. in care of the funeral home.Visits: 0
