Cortney Hansen Hatesohl was born on March 26, 1985 to Billy & Merry Jo (James) Hansen. She passed from this life on Monday, Dec. 21, 2009 at KU Medical Center, Kansas City, KS at the age of 24. Cortney graduated from Belleville High School in 2003 and then graduated from Wichita Area Technical College in 2004. Cortney enjoyed working in various areas of employment, trying to help out where ever she could while being foster care parent. Cortney, being the youngest girl of six children, spent many hours being with family and friends, whether playing with her nieces and nephews or helping out on the family farm. She married Derek Hatesohl on Nov. 15, 2008 at the American Lutheran Church, Belleville. Cortney was involved in 4-H, FFA, KAYS Club & KCA. She was a member of the American Lutheran Church, Republic Co. Relay for Life & American Legion Auxiliary, Scandia. She is survived by her husband: Derek Hatesohl, Concordia, KS; parents: Billy & Merry Jo Hansen, Belleville, KS; sisters: Karen Hansen, Belleville, KS, Rosemerry Hansen Crubel & husband Mark, St. George, KS & Joelle Hansen & Matt McCormick, Kansas City, KS; brothers: Gregory Hansen & wife Kristi, Castle Rock, CO & Phillip Hansen, Scandia, KS; nephews: Gavin & Kaden Hansen, Castle Rock, CO; niece: Zoey McCormick, Kansas City, KS & nephews: Ethan & Anthony Crubel, St. George, KS; parents in law: Jeff & Renda Hatesohl, Concordia, KS; sister in law: Morgan Hatesohl, Concordia, KS; grandparents in law: Delton & Marilyn Hatesohl, Concordia, KS & Wesley Wayne Jones, Salina, KS & various aunts, uncles, cousins & friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents; aunt Barbara Patterson; uncle, Butch Svoboda & cousin, Tara Hansen. Funeral services will be at 10 AM, Sat., Dec. 26, 2009 at the Concordia Lutheran Church, Concordia with Rev. Delvin Strecker officiating. Visitation will be from 10 AM to 9 PM with the family greeting friends from 5-8 PM, Wed., Dec. 23, 2009 and from 8 AM to 1 PM, Thurs., Dec. 24, 2009 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home. Burial will follow the services at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Belleville, KS. The family suggests memorials to the Republic County Relay for Life in care of the funeral home.
