Craig David Weeks was born Aug. 1, 1946 in Washington , DC . He died Tues., Jan. 25, 2011 at his home in Concordia , KS at the age of 64. He married Brenda J. Reece on April 7, 1982.

Craig's early childhood years were spent in Gas City , KS ; Van Nuys , CA ; Red Oak, Iowa and West Point , NE.

He graduated from West Point High School in 1964. He did his undergraduate at the Univ. of Nebraska , Lincoln , NE from 1964-1967, earning a B.S. Degree. While attending college, Craig played in the UNL Marching Band, attending & participating in several bowl games. Craig enjoyed music and during his high school years, received numerous awards for his talents on the piano & clarinet.

He attended medical school at the Univ. Of Nebraska Medical Center , Omaha , NE from 1967-1971, earning his M.D. He spent a one year rotating internship at Good Samaritan Hospital, Phoenix, AZ from 1971-72. He returned to the Univ. of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha for his ophthalmology residency from 1972-75.

Craig was an ophthalmologist in the US Army for six years, attaining the rank of Lt. Colonel. His duty assignments included Landstuhl , Germany ; El Paso , TX ; Ft. Riley , KS and Ft. Hood , TX . After leaving the Army, Craig was an ophthalmologist for the VA Hospital, Temple , TX and Audie Murphy VA Hospital, San Antonio , TX .

During his time at the VA Hospitals, Craig was affiliated with Texas A&M Univ. College of Medicine as an Asst. Professor. He was also affiliated with the Scott & White ophthalmology residency program. While at the VA Hospital, San Antonio , TX , Craig was also on the staff as an Asst. Professor of the Univ. of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio , TX .

Retiring early, Craig & his wife Brenda, fulfilled one of Craig's desires-traveling the country in their motor home, full time for five years and Craig loved every moment of it.

Craig's fondest memories were of summers spent with his grandparents in Iola, KS; experiencing his grandparents love for him.

After traveling, Craig & Brenda settled into their home outside Concordia , KS . Craig loved his home, his cats, hunting and all aspects of wildlife.

He was preceded in death by his father & mother. He is survived by his wife, Brenda; a daughter, Megan; his step-father and 1 brother & 2 sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Friday, Jan. 28, 2011 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia , KS with Pastor L. Dean Thompson officiating. Visitation will be one hour preceding the service on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services at Pleasant Hill Cemetery , Concordia with Military Honors by American Legion Post #76 & VFW Post #588. The family suggests memorials to Solomon Valley Hospice in care of the funeral home.
