Curtis L. Hartzell was born in Guthrie, OK to Roy & Irene (Krober) Hartzell. He passed from this life on Friday, Jan. 9, 2009 at his residence in Salina, KS at the age of 75. Curt graduated from Mutual High School in Mutual, OK. He married Jean Fant on July 19, 1957 at Turlock, CA. He served in the US Air Force for 20 years, serving in Vietnam and retiring on Aug. 31, 1973 as a Major. He then worked as an engineer for 17 years for the Boeing Co. in Seattle, WA. He was a member of Gideon's International and served his church as a Sunday School teacher and treasurer. He enjoyed a host of activities and hobbies that he found always occupied his time. Curt is survived by his wife, Jean Hartzell, Salina, KS; daughters, Gwendolyn Lloyd, Seattle, WA, Lisa Mikesell & husband David, Concordia, KS, Janice Brennan & husband Michael, Seattle, WA & Jenny Martinez & husband Troy, Roy, WA; a son, Rodney Hartzell, Kansas City, KS; sisters, Joyce Simpson, DeSoto, TX, Ruth Hepner, Woodward, OK & Bonnie Hartzell, Oklahoma City, OK; brothers, Wayne Hartzell, Burlington, IA & Leon Hartzell, Oklahoma City, OK; a son in law, Jeff Lloyd, Auburn, WA & a daughter in law, Marcie Hartzell, Concordia, KS; 15 grandchildren & 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Mon., Jan. 12, 2009 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia with Rev. David Redmond officiating. Visitation will be from 2-8 PM with the family greeting friends from 3-4 PM Sun., Jan. 11, 2009 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home. Burial will follow the services at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia with military honors conducted by the McConnell Air Force Base Honor Guard. The family suggests memorials to the Gideon's International.
