Darrell J. Payeur was born on June 11, 1919 in Concordia, KS to Walter C. & Nellie B. (Huffman) Payeur. He passed from this life on Wed., Feb. 23, 2011 at Park Villa Nursing Home, Clyde, KS at the age of 91. Darrell graduated from Clyde High School and then went to work in the state of Florida. He joined the US Army Air Corps. in 1941 and served in the African Theater until returning to Clyde in 1946. Darrell married Lois F. Anderson on Oct. 10, 1948. She preceded him in death on June 6, 1998. Darrell & Lois made their home on a farm northwest of Clyde, where he was a farmer and rancher. He was a member of American Legion Post #76, VFW Post #588, Moose Lodge #1428, 40 & 8, Masonic Lodge & the United Methodist Church, Clyde. He is survived by his sons: Bruce Payeur & wife Monica, Clyde, KS & Brian Payeur & wife Mary, Broomfield, CO; daughter: Betty Jo (B.J.) Cameron & husband Jerrilyn, Ellis, KS; brother: Dick Payeur & wife Leona, Clyde, KS; brother in law: Clair Anderson, Clyde, KS; 5 grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 4 step great grandchildren & several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois; parents; brothers, Warren & Kirtz Payeur & sister, Wanda Payeur. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM, Sat., Feb. 26, 2011 at the United Methodist Church, Clyde with Rev. Anita Strommen officiating. Visitation will be from 12-8 PM with the family greeting friends from 6-7 PM Fri, Feb. 25, 2011 at Chaput Mortuary, Clyde. The casket will remain closed. Burial will follow the services at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Clyde. The family suggests memorials to the United Methodist Church, Clyde, Park Villa Nursing Home & the Clyde Ambulance Fund in care of the funeral home.
