Delmer Lee Meyer, age 74, entered into rest on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at his home in Concordia, Kansas. Delmer was born on April 23, 1947 to Elmer J. and Madeline (Christensen) Meyer in Superior, Nebraska. He grew up on a farm at Bostwick, Nebraska. He attended elementary school at Bostwick and graduated from Superior High School. He furthered his education at Central Community College in Hastings, Nebraska graduating with a degree in auto body repair. After graduation he worked in the auto body repair field and then in agriculture related positions where he became interested in the trucking business. He later established his own trucking company, Meyer Trucking, Inc.
Delmer married Mary Jean James on January 14, 1983 at the Concordia Wesleyan Church, Concordia, Kansas. She survives of the home.
Delmer's hobbies included going to auctions and collecting, avid Nascar fan, Facebook, and most of all spending time with his family especially his beloved grandchildren.
Delmer attended the Concordia Wesleyan Church. He was also a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post #76, and a past Moose Lodge Member, all of Concordia.
Delmer was preceded in death by his mother, Madeline, in 1956, by his father and step-mother, Elmer and Lorene Meyer, grandparents, and a nephew, Matthew Dickinson.
He is survived by his wife Mary of the home in Concordia, 3 children, Christipher Saunders (Elisabeth) Warren, VT; Donna Sue Franklin (Rick) Yukon, OK; Rebecca Scimeca (Bill) Caney, KS; 12 Grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter, sister, Carol (Glen) Mueller of Nelson, NE; brother, Ron (Marilyn) Thomsen of Reno, NV;sister, Cheryl (Arden) Russell of Webber, KS; sister, Sharon (Doug) Dickinson of Seward, NE; brother, Neil (Barb) Thomsen of Superior, NE; and sister, Yvonne Meyer (Stuart Price) of Joplin, MO; Good friend, Chester Saunders, Concordia, KS; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 1-8 pm on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, with the family receiving friends from 6-8 pm at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia. Delmer's wishes were to be cremated and a Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, February 10, 2022 at the Concordia Wesleyan Church, with Pastor David Redmond and Pastor Bob Burns officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia, Kansas.
