Donald "Don" D. Lewis was born on Oct. 24, 1932 in Concordia, KS to Raymond & Mabel (Moore) Lewis. He passed from this life on Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010 at Mt. Joseph Senior Community, Concordia, KS at the age of 77. Don attended Nelson Center grade school and graduated from Concordia High School. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. Don married Darlene Lapo on Feb. 1, 1953 at The Baptist Church, Concordia. Don was a lifetime Cloud county area farmer and resident. He was a member of The Baptist Church & a lifetime member of VFW Post #588. He is survived by his wife: Darlene Lewis, Concordia, KS; daughters: Kayleen Lewis, Concordia, KS, Kelly Schulze & husband Steve, Parsons, KS & Jennifer Odette & husband Joe, Concordia, KS; sister: Gloria Breault, Hastings, NE; brothers: Glenn Lewis & wife Jane, Wichita, KS, James Lewis & wife Leslie, Manhattan, KS & Robert Lewis & wife Carol, Tulsa, OK; grandchildren: Cody Odette & Hattie Clark, Concordia, KS, Cyle Odette & fiancé Hannah Coash, Manhattan, KS, Colton Odette, Concordia, KS & Spencer Schulze, Parsons, KS & a host of nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Donita Lewis; parents; sisters, Norma Lee Istas, Shirley Vincent & Berniece Burt & brother, Raymond "Junior" Lewis. Memorial services will be 10:00 AM, Wed., Sept. 8, 2010 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home with Pastors Steve Schulze & Bob Burns officiating. Military honors will follow the memorial services at the funeral home by VFW Post #588 & American Legion Post #76. It was Don's wishes to be cremated and friends may sign the register book from 9 AM to 9 PM with the family greeting friends from 7-8 PM, Tues., Sept. 7, 2010. The family suggests memorials to the Mt. Joseph Senior Community or Meadowlark Hospice.
