Donald Elwyn Wells was born February 21, 1912 in Rural Huscher, to Benjamin and Sarah Trost Wells. He died March 5, 2007 at Sunset Nursing Home in Concordia Kansas. He attended District 56 grade schools. He served in the US Army during WWII. He married Ronelda Nelson on March 7, 1934, she preceded him in death on February 22, 2002. He was a lifetime area resident and local farmer. He and Ronelda enjoyed traveling and visiting relatives in Colorado, Idaho and Washington. In later years they traveled to McAllen, TX to spend some time with friends in the winter, returning with fresh citrus fruit. He also worked for the Concordia Ice Company and he and Ronelda drove a Star postal route for a number of years. At the same time he worked on the farm and raised cattle near Huscher, KS. He had been a resident of Sunset Nursing Home for the last two and a half years. He was a member of American Legion Post #76 for more than 60 years and the First Christian Church of Concordia, KS. Survivors include: a Sister-in-law: Bertha Elstrom of Concordia, KS; several nieces and nephews and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife- Ronelda, a Brother- Glenn Wells, and parents. Services will be 10:00AM Thursday at the First Christian Church with Rev. John States offiating. Visitation will be from 9 AM to 9 PM Wednesday at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home. Burial will be in Nelson Cemetery, Huscher, KS. The family has designated memorials to Sunset Nursing Home or American Legion Post #76.
