Doris Rose Kearn Blackburn, age 83, of Mission, Texas (formerly of Concordia, Kansas) passed away April 5, 2007 at Carondelet Manor in Kansas City, Missouri. She was born November 15, 1923 in Cloud County, the daughter of Earl and Eunice Holton Kearn. Doris graduated from Jamestown High School and Emporia State Teacher's College, and taught school at the Nelson Center country school. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Mission, Texas, and of the V.F.W. Auxiliary. She married Alden B. "Shorty" Blackburn on February, 14, 1949. He preceded her in death in 1989. They resided many years in Concordia, and retired to Mission, Texas. Survivors include: Three daughters, Susan Jackson and her husband, John, of Missouri City, Texas; Pam German of Garland, Texas; Jan Nelson and her husband, Mark, of Topeka, Kansas; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alden, her parents, 3 sisters and 2 brothers. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Concordia. Friends may sign the resigter book from 9 AM to 5 PM both Thursday, April 12 and Friday April 13 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia. The body was cremated. Inurnment of the cremains will follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The family requests memorials to the Sound Advice Quartet Ministry or the Kansas Masonic Foundation, care of the funeral home.
