Dorothy L. Bowman, daughter of Charles A. and Lillie Mae Myers Kelley, was born on February 8, 1919 near Talmo, Kansas.  She died on July 18, 2009, at the age of 90, at her home near Agenda, Kansas.    She attended grade school at District No. 1(Republic Co.), Belleville High School, and graduated from Haddam High School in 1936.  She taught in the rural schools of Republic and Cloud Counties for twelve years.    She was united in marriage to Anver O. Bowman on August 8, 1942 in San Francisco, California, where her husband was stationed in the army. This union was blessed with one daughter Linda.  After Anver's return from World War II, they made their lifelong home on the family farm near Agenda, Kansas.    Dorothy was a member of the Clyde United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.  She had a lifelong interest in education.  She also enjoyed sewing, reading, crossword puzzles, baking, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.    She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Anver in 2004; brothers George Virgil (Tobe) Kenley, John Kelly, Robert Kelley; and sister Ellen New.    She is survived by a daughter Linda Herrs and husband Lowell; granddaughter Deanna Kolle and husband Royce; grandson Michael Herrs;  great-granddaughters Carly and Carissa all of Linn;  sisters Vivian Erickson and husband Lloyd, Sarah (Betty) Bergstrom and husband Lee all of Clyde, Charlene Kae Hutchison of New Johnsonville, Tennessee; sister-in-law Jo Ann Kelly of Derby; nieces, nephews, and  many friends.    Visitation will be at the Chaput Mortuary in Clyde on Tuesday, July 21 from 12:00 - 8:00 P.M. with family receiving friends from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M.    Services will be held on Wednesday, July 22 at 10:00 AM. at the United Methodist Church in Clyde with Pastor Anita Strommen officiating.  Interment will be in the Agenda Cemetery.The family suggests memorials to the Clyde United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
