Douglas D. Yarnell was born on April 18, 1951 in Concordia, KS to Francis E. (Gene) & Berna (Chartier) Yarnell. He died on Fri., Dec. 9, 2011 at the Kaye Pogue Hospice Center, Salina, KS at the age of 60. Douglas graduated from Concordia High School, Class of '69, Cloud County Community College and then Kansas State University with a B.A. in Art Education. He taught briefly at Basehor, KS before moving to Virginia Beach, VA to work for the Christian Broadcast Network for 28 years as a Quality Analyst for the 700 Club. Douglas is survived by his mother, Berna Gable & husband Art, Salina, KS; brothers, Bruce Yarnell & wife Vicki, Shawnee, KS, Eric Yarnell & wife Opal, Overland Park, KS & Patrick Yarnell, Denver, CO; sisters, Jeannette Davenport & husband, Joel, Essexville, MI & Jayne Hermes & husband Dale, Wichita, KS; step sister, Cheryl Higgins & husband David, Salina, KS & several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Gene. Funeral services will be at 1 PM, Mon., Dec. 12, 2011 at the First Christian Church, Concordia with Rev. Jeff Nielsen officiating. Visitation will be from 8 AM to 11:30 AM with the family greeting friends from 10-11:30 AM, Mon. at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Clyde, KS. The family suggests memorials to Hospice of Salina, the First Christian Church or donor's choice in care of the funeral home.
