Obituary

Edna Eva McAdams Pearson, age 99, passed away Saturday, April 5, 2008 at the Juniper Village Nursing Home in Lamar, Colorado with her family by her side.  She was born February 23, 1909 near Clyde, Kansas to William Orville and Jessie (Carlile) McAdams and graduated from Clyde High School in 1926.  She moved from Clyde, Kansas to Lamar, Colorado to be near family in 2003 due to declining health. She was an active member of the Clyde United Methodist Church for many years, by teaching kindergarten and the first grade Sunday School.  She attended various church circles and helped with church meals.  Her greatest virtue was probably patience.  She was a member of "Country Club" for many years.  Her work activities outside the home included running a team of horses to cultivate the corn and lift hay into the barn loft for her father.  Later on, she worked mainly as a bookkeeper at several places including the Creamery at Clifton, the Crews Ford Garage, helping with the new Model T's and Model A's, and at the Clyde Grocery, all of Clyde, KS.  She was also a cook at the Clyde High School in the 1960's.  A few years were spent giving care to several elderly Clyde ladies.  Her hobbies included gardening, playing piano, quilting, cross stitch, tatting, and sewing.  Edna is survived by three sons: Stanley Pearson and wife Mary, Aurora, Colorado; Larry Pearson and wife Dixie, Lamar, Colorado; and Danny Pearson and wife Jeanette, Bartlesville, Oklahoma.  She very much loved her family, which includes 9 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, and her brother Verl E. McAdams.  Services will be at 10:00AM Thursday, April 10, 2008 at the Clyde United Methodist Church with the Rev. Anita Strommen officiating.  Visitation will be 11AM to 8PM Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at Chaput Mortuary with the family receiving friends from 5-7.  Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Clyde, Kansas.  The family suggests memorials to the Clyde United Methodist Church.
