Elden K. Nelson, age 88, died Tues., March 8, 2016 at Sunset Nursing Home, Concordia, KS. He was born on June 26, 1927 in Rural Concordia to Edwin O. & Frances (Parson) Nelson.

Elden graduated from Concordia High School. He married Anita Larsen on Sept. 19, 1953 at The Baptist Church, Concordia. Elden was a lifelong area resident, farmer and mail carrier. He retired from the postal service in 2005 after carrying mail for 42 years.

He is survived by his wife, Anita; daughter, Deanna Garlow (Don), & son, Scott Nelson (Barbara); brothers, Carl "Sam" (Regina) & Darrell (Mary Dean); sister in law, Norma Nelson; grandchildren; Dena Benfer (DeVon), Stacie LaBarge (Nathan), Michael Nelson (Marissa) & Daniel Garlow (Bailey) all of Concordia & grandchildren, Brooke Nelson (Lionel Busgith), Vista, CA & Alison Nitti (Johnny), Virginia Beach, VA; sister, Ramona Dibley, Modesto, CA & great grandchildren, Drew, Davin & Danner Benfer; Creighton Nelson; Dodger Nitti; Brady LaBarge & Cora & Maxwell Garlow.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, LaVerne; sisters, Arlene Fredrickson & Leola Doyen.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Mon., March 14, 2016 at Concordia Wesleyan Church with Rev. David Redmond officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia. Visitation will be from 12-8 pm with family greeting friends from 4-5 pm Sun., March 13, 2016 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home.
