Elmer L. Couture was born on November 19, 1913 in Rural Clyde, Kansas to Med and Eleanor Tremblay Couture.  He passed from this life at his residence in Clyde, Kansas on Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at the age of 93. H e graduated from Clyde High School in 1931. He married Bernice M. Brunhaver on May 23, 1939 in Lincoln, NE. She preceded him in death on June 19, 1996. He and his wife owned & operated the Clyde IGA Grocery store from 1940 to 1982. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Clyde and was active in local business groups. He was an original director of the Park Villa Nursing Home, Clyde.  He is survived by his daughters, Connie Gallagher and Hus. Larry, Clyde, Kansas, Nancy Henry and Hus. Robert, Bloomington, IN and Wanda Alexander, Nashville, TN, 11 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice, parents, sister, Jeanette Bachand and a great granddaughter.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2007 at 10:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Clyde, Kansas.  Visitation will be held from 10 AM to 8 PM Friday, October 19, 2007 with a Parish Rosary at 4 PM all at Chaput Mortuary, Clyde, Kansas.  Burial will follow the services at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Clyde.  The family suggests memorials to the Mt. Calvary Cemetery Fund.
