Elmer G. Sicard, age 76, died
Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014 at Salina Regional Health Center, Salina.
Elmer was born on Oct. 14, 1937 in Clyde, KS
to Edward "Shorty" Sicard & Bernadette (Roy) Sicard.
Elmer graduated from Clyde High
School.
He served in the US Army from
1956-1959, as a paratrooper in the 82
nd
Airborne.
Elmer married Althea Macri on Jan. 8,
1977.
Elmer was a lifelong area
resident, where he was employed as a welder at Alstom Power & Pre-Heater
until his retirement.
He was also a
longtime member of the American Legion Post #76.
He is survived by his wife,
Althea, Concordia; son Gene Sicard & wife Terri, Concordia; daughter,
Debbie Newcomer & husband Brian, Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Samanthah and
Ethan Sicard, Concordia & Madison and Zachary Newcomer, Dallas, TX; sister,
Madeline Wright, Concordia & brother, Norman Sicard, Concordia, several
nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Elmer was preceded in death by
his parents; sister, Adeline "Dort" Willoughby & brothers Hector "Junior"
and Donald "Snowball" Sicard.
It was Elmer's wishes to be cremated with Memorial services to be held at 11:00 am, Mon. Jan. 20, 2014 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home with Rev. Dean R. Frazier officiating. Military Honors will be conducted at the funeral home by American Legion Post #76 & VFW Post #588. Friends may sign the register book from 12-8 pm with the family greeting friends from 4-6 pm, Sunday at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home. Private family burial will be at a later date in the St. Joseph Cemetery, St Joseph, KS. The family advises, to all interested friends and family, that Elmer wished that this be a celebration of his time with us and not a sorrowful event. The family also suggests that memorials be made to the Concordia Avenue of Flags or the Animal Shelter in care of the funeral home.
