Obituary

On Wed, June 29, 2011, God called one of his special angels, Eva M. Bergeson, age 95 of Salina , home from the Kaye Pogue Hospice Center . Eva was formerly of Jamestown . She was born on November 10, 1915 in Jamestown , the daughter of Christ and Emma (Peterson) Nelson. Eva attended the Salt Marsh district 93 school northeast of Jamestown . She graduated from Jamestown High School in 1933, and then married her high school sweetheart Joe E. Bergeson on October 23, 1935 in Concordia. Eva was a member of the United Methodist Church in Jamestown and was a member of the UMW and taught Sunday school for 19 years. She and Joe lived and worked their farms in Cloud County until retirement in 1983 and then purchased a home in Concordia.

Eva is survived by her sons, Bill Bergeson and wife Karen of Salina, Darrell Bergeson and wife Betty of Springfield, Missouri; daughter in law, Jeanette Bergeson of Salina; 6 grandchildren, Christine Seaton and husband Robert of Show Low, Arizona, Bryan Bergeson and wife Shirley of Mora, Missouri, Brett Bergeson and wife Jeri Ann of Salina, Jeffrey Bergeson and wife Nicci of Salina, Jennifer Blochlinger and husband Russell of Salina, Pam Stelzman and husband Jason of Sevierville, Tennessee; 6 step grand children; 13 great grandchildren; 19 step great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; 11 step great great grandchildren; and a half brother, Roger Nelson of Jamestown. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Joe, in 1997; her oldest son, Gerald in 2008; a daughter in law, Annette, in 1998; 2 sisters, Mabel and Ruby; 2 brothers, Fred and Lawrence; 2 infant siblings; and a half brother Rodney.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home in Concordia with Rev. Barry Dundas officiating. Interment will be in the Morrison Cemetery southwest of Concordia. Visitation will be held from noon – 8 PM Monday, July 4, 2011 with family greeting friends from 6 – 7 PM at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home in Concordia. Memorials may be given to Hospice of Salina in care of the funeral home.
