Eva M. Strait, age 89, entered into rest on Friday, January 22, 2021, at the Mt. Joseph Senior Village, Concordia, Kansas.  She was born April 26, 1931 to Johannes and Hildegard (Schnabel) Henke.

Eva Married Howard G. Strait on March 5, 1952 in Berlin, Germany and after coming by boat to the USA she took her citizenship and became an American Citizen on March 26, 1959.

She was a homemaker.  Eva enjoyed sewing, quilting, crafting, photography, and making her own cards.  She loved making German bread and Christmas cookies.  Eva was a lifetime member of the VFW women's Auxiliary, Concordia, KS.

Eva is survived by her children, John Strait (Janice), Concordia, KS; David Strait (Cindy), Auburn, KS; Elaine Lesperance (Corey Minor), Maize, KS; Grandchildren, Jennifer Faulkner (Dwight), Wamego, KS; Brian Strait (Chandra), Smiths Station, AL; Erica Harris (Craig), Shawnee, KS; Chris Strait (Anna Kurihara), Portland, ME; Jordan Pittman (Jason), Hutchinson, KS; Alex Lesperance, Olathe, KS; Great-Grandchildren, Emma Faulkner, Abby Faulkner, Gage Strait, Sloan Harris, Quinn Harris, Blake Pittman, and "Baby" Pittman; twin sister, Gisela Koufos, Murrieta, CA; sister,  Sybilla (Kitty) Elliott, Niagara Falls, NY;

Sisters-n-law whom she enjoyed her special luncheon plans with, Phyllis Koester (Hank) of Salina, KS; Patty Smith (Paul), Washington, KS; and a special niece Rosalee Landon (Ted), Ellsworth, KS;  Also, sisters-in-law, Inge Henke, Heidelberg, Germany; Karen Strait, Salina, KS; very special friends, Betty Reynolds, Joplin, MO; and Elizabeth Anderson (Liz), Concordia, KS;

She was preceded in death by her husband Howard, Parents, and 2 brothers, Helmut and Hans Henke.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 28, 2021 at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia, Kansas, with Fr. David Metz.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home from 9 am – 5 pm.
