Evalyn M. Jensen was born on January 18, 1927 in Republic County, KS to Winfield Homer & Mabel (Stensaas) Christensen. She passed from this life on Wed., Dec. 1, 2010 at the Cloud County Health Center, Concordia, KS at the age of 83. Evalyn graduated from Concordia High School and then attended college in Salina until marrying Floyd L. Anderson on Feb. 10, 1946 in Concordia and this union was blessed with 4 children. Evalyn worked in the offices of various businesses in the Concordia area. She was a member of the Concordia Lutheran Church after transferring her membership from Our Savior Lutheran Church in Norway. Evalyn enjoyed playing bingo and was a member of the Senior Citizen's card club and a host of other card clubs. She was a member of the Women of the Moose Lodge #1428. Family was always important to Evalyn and keeping in touch with all her relatives in the Norway community. Evalyn especially enjoyed sewing quilts for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters: Julie Lohse & husband Gary, Lincoln, NE & Jolene Foster & husband Ron, Lincoln, NE; sons: Floyd Anderson & wife Carol, Lincoln, NE & Troy Anderson & wife Sandy, Colonial Heights, VA; sisters: Maxine Benson, Mankato, KS, Clarice Cote & husband Elric, Albany, OR & Marilyn LeClair, Lincoln, NE; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren & 1 great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers & a sister. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM, Sat. Dec. 4, 2010 at the Concordia Lutheran Church, Concordia with Rev. David Strommen officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 AM to 9 PM with the family greeting friends from 6-8 PM Fri. at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home. Burial will follow the services at the Norway Community Cemetery, Norway, KS. The family suggests memorials to the Concordia Senior Citizen's Center in care of the funeral home.
