Rev. Dr. F. Lowell Cormack was born on October 29, 1912 in Palco , Kansas to Robert Lee and Pearl Mae Hull Cormack. He passed from this life on December 24, 2007 at Sunset Nursing Home, Concordia , Kansas at the age of 95. He graduated from Solomon High School . He graduated from William Jewell College and then Central Baptist Seminary in 1938. He married Virginia Nida Roseberry on May 6, 1937 in Kansas City , KS . In 1938, he was ordained a pastor in the American Baptist Churches. He served the following churches: New Liberty Church, Mound City, MO; First Baptist Church, Farifax, MO; Colfax Baptist Church, Chanute, KS; First Baptist Church, Chanute, KS; Oakland Park Baptist Church, K.C., KS; Prairie Baptist Church, Prairie Village, KS and First Baptist Church, Santa Barbara, CA. He retired at the end of 1977 & served 22 interim pastorates in Southern California, Nevada & Hawaii until he moved back to Concordia , KS in 1996. During his years of ministry; he was recognized by Central Seminary for Outstanding Pastoral Leadership; he received an Honorary Doctor of Divinity Degree from Ottawa University in 1965 at the same time Frank Carlson also received an Honorary Doctorate. During his pastorate in Kansas , he was active in the Kansas Baptist Convention and served as it's president. He also was active in the American Baptist Churches of the Pacific Southwest while in California . He loved scripture and poetry, and committed much of that to memory. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was known for his stories and practical jokes. He is survived by his wife, Virginia, Concordia , Kansas ; daughter, Julie Paulsen and Hus. Wayne, Franklin, Ohio; sons, Roger Cormack, Concordia, Kansas and Richard Cormack and wife Fumi, Juneau, Alaska; brother, Clayton Cormack and wife Arlene, Arvada, Colorado; sister, Velma Hinkson, Wichita, Kansas; grandchildren, Lisa Knapp and Hus. Chuck, Concordia , Kansas , Lori Fast and Hus. Scott, Overland Park, Kansas and Bryan Cormack, Juneau, Alaska; great grandchildren, Drew, Jared and Lydia Knapp, Concordia, Kansas and Anthony and Madysen Fast, Overland Park, Kansas and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers and 2 sisters. Funeral services will be held on Wed., January 2, 2007 at 10:30 AM at The Baptist Church, Concordia , Kansas . Burial will be held at 2:30 PM, Wed., January 2, 2007 at the Abilene Cemetery, Abilene, Kansas . Visitation will be held from 8 AM to 5 PM Monday, December 31, 2007 and from 11 AM to 8 PM on Tuesday, January 1, 2007 all at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia , Kansas . The family will greet friends from 6-8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to the Lowell & Virginia Cormack Scholarship Fund at Central Baptist Theological Seminary in Shawnee, Kansas .
