Fedora M. Nobert, age 86, died Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at Brodstone Memorial Hospital in Superior, NE. Fedora was raised in the rural Concordia area and graduated from Rural Dist. 50 West Branch school. As a young woman during WWII, Fedora worked as a 'milk man' for Fairmont Dairy in Concordia delivering milk. She married Damian C. Nobert on Dec. 12, 1944 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia. She and Damian lived briefly in Wilmington, NC. When Damian was sent overseas, Fedora returned to Concordia and worked at Venning Drug Store. After the war, they lived in Ames, KS and farmed with his parents for a 2 years. They moved to Concordia in 1948, where they lived for the rest of their 63 years together until Damian preceded her in death on Sept. 5, 2008. Six children were born to this union. Fedora was a 'professional volunteer' and active in many organizations including the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, serving as President; also the Buddy Poppy Program, Voice of Democracy Chairperson St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary, serving as President; Extension Home Unit; Historical Society; served Meals on Wheels and many other organizations. Fedora was an active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia where she was a member and officer of the Altar Society & Catholic Daughters of America. She served as a room mother, Camp Fire Girls, Girl Scout leader, Cub Scout & Den mother & also active in several other areas in the Catholic schools while her children were in school. She enjoyed the distinction of being a grandmother for 39 years. She is survived by her daughter: Carolyn Brzon & husband Brian, Republic, KS; sons: Dennis Nobert & wife Leanna, Phoenix, AZ, Bruce Nobert & wife Robin, Phoenix, AZ & Galen Nobert & wife Becky, Salina, KS; her grandchildren: Adam & wife Melanie, Matt Nobert, Ryan & Emily Nobert, Brett & wife Heather & Brock Brzon, Nicholas & Darren Nobert; great grandchildren: Addison & Kalee Nobert; step grandchildren: Michele & Curtis Metro; 9 step great grandchildren & 3 step great great grandchildren; sisters: Berniece Trahan, Clay Center, KS & Norma Jean Anderson & husband Jim, Russell, KS & brother: Harold Gagna, Chicago, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband, Damian; parents; infant children, Janice Elaine & Gary Charles; brothers, Alden, Duane, Dean & Hobart Gagna. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, August 15, 2009 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia with Rev. Larry Letourneau officiating. Visitation will be held from 9 AM to 9 PM with an Altar Society Rosary at 5 PM & Vigil service at 6:30 PM Friday, August 14, 2009 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home. Burial will follow the services at St. Concordia Cemetery, Concordia. The family suggests memorials to the St. Concordia Cemetery or the Donor's Choice in care of the funeral home.
